About Us
Shilpi- as the name depicts – the creator or the originator, has been
the initiator of the textile trends for the last 20 years. Based in
the textile city Jaipur (Sanagner), Shilpi has been a successful craft
based business using traditional techniques of hand block printing and
embroideries. Founded by the traditional textile printer from Sanganer
,Brij Udaiwal, the company focuses on providing employment to 85 odd
units dealing in hand-block printing, hand embroidery and stitching
and which are located in Jaipur, Sanganer, Bagru and near by places.
The company treats every craft person as the original creator of the
design and the process because he is the one who knows his job well
and has been doing it since ages and thus can create things which are
truly his own creations. Thus every craft person in Shilpi is a
‘Shilpkar’.
Shilpi Handicraft has a team of designers who regularly strive at
providing latest trends and know how to the craft persons in order to
inculcate the innovation amongst them. Also they emphasize on
constantly experimenting and innovating, especially with modern colors
and patterns to see how they could be applied to the craft.
Mr. Brij Udaiwal is a National Award Winner (year1991) and over the
years he has been actively working for the up-liftment of craftsmen by
running various educational and vocational training centers. He is
also energetically involved in the developments which are taking place
regarding the future of hand-block printing in Sanganer.
As part of its policy, Shipi has adopted various units which depend
directly or indirectly for work. These units work in coordination with
different subsidiaries of Shilpi Handicrafts ( Shilpi ,Prakhya, Weave
‘N’ Prints, Pugmarks and Shilpi Sansthan) which are dealing in
fabrics, handicrafts, garments and accessories, gifts etc.
The company is currently venturing into retailing and service sector
and thus holds its promise of promoting crafts and craftspe.rson
